Christmas

by Lukas Boyd

CHRISTMAS means a lot to me because it is a time of giving and getting.

Also, school holidays!

Christmas is just a fancy word for "Happy Birthday, Jesus!"

Mum always gets us to put up a tree and decorate it!
It's a bit of a pain but I like turning the lights on when we are finished.

Mum and Dad don't get much of a Sleep-in on Christmas morning because I wake them up so I can get my presents straight away!

I love Christmas and I will continue celebrating it when I am an adult!

My Pocket-Knife

 By Lukas Boyd

I got my Pocket-Knife at the Waiouru army museum, it has a knife, can opener, cork-screw, bottle-opener, file, two screwdrivers and scissors. The pouch I have for it came from a Hunting and Fishing shop and smelt like Manuka Honey paste.I keep my pocket-knife on a chain attached to my pants so I never lose it.

My Cold

by Lukas Boyd

Today, I am sick with a sore throat and a snotty nose. I don't like being sick because I can't do as much as I would like to.

Also, my speelling ( spelling) becomes atrocouse ( atrocious) - see! I do an 'H' instead of an 'L', an 'I' instead of a 'V' and a 'B' instead of an 'O'.

There is only one reason I like being sick.....Mum let's me off  school work a tiny bit.

Trees

  by Lukas Boyd

One of the most significant forms of God's creation are trees, ranging between 10 and 300 feet tall, some of the tallest natural structures, are trees.A few of these trees like The General Grant Sequoia, in North America are up to 35 Centuries old  and still growing!
My dream is to go to America and see them one day!
Below is a photo of some Pine trees at our place.

Our House

By Lukas Boyd

Our house is green and cream in colour with a touch of red. It's quite an old house, as the front porch has 1944 stamped on it. It has recently been renovated as we have double glazed windows, new carpet and a cool new bathroom. The wallpaper is also new. Some of the original features are still here, like a stained glass window. I think it is a good contrast of the old and the new.I like our new house a lot.

The Mini-figure is blue, grey, yellow and black.
It is a very small set with two wheels like a motor-bike, except the front wheel has circular saw blades on either side of it.

Our Trip to the River by Lukas Boyd

Our trip to the river
was hair raising,
uproarious and exhilerating!
Also, a bit side- splitting!

First and foremost, we turned the Go- Cart on!
An hour later we turned it off!

It's my job to tell you what happened between those two points!

Seeing I don't like my job!.....I won't!

Come back tomorrow for more exhilerating hilarity!

My Bow

My Bow is a compound Bow which means it uses pulleys to give it more strength and Fibre-Glass limbs help it a little bit too. It has a 25lb draw which means you have to be able to lift 25lbs to pull the string back. The arrows came separately and are about three feet long . The Bow is about the same hight as the arrows and the sights are a little above the handle,it has three strings that are all connected and you only pull one of them to shoot with. There is a rod under the handle to hold two of the strings back a bit. It is metallic black with a bit of silver, bronze and a dot of red for the sights.

How the Elephant Got It's Trunk

It farted and blew it's nose up.
It used it as a sling-shot.
Baby sling.
It held it's breath for too long.
Somebody put a bike pump in it's mouth and pegged it's nose.
T.N.T up the nose.
It's nose was used as a hammock.
It got caught climbing a tree.
The Elephant hung from a tree for too long.

It trumpeted too hard.

How does an elephant get snot out of its nose!

Pick their nose with their nose
Blow their nose
Monkey up the trunky
Blow water out its nose
Put a snake up the trunk
Climb up a tree and nose dive
Line the inside of its nose with banana skins so the snot slides out
Sneeze...maybe on someone
Ants go marching up there
Fart and sniff – snot would catch fire

Add another brick to my wall!

Horses

My horse, Beaux, was born in Waipukurau, his Father is Dad's Clydesdale, Willy. His mother is a jet black
thoroughbred called Belle.

He has a white stripe down his nose, calm look in his eyes and is quite lazy. He will turn two years old this October and is about 14 hands and 3 inches tall and still growing. Being a Clydesdale thoroughbred cross, he will probably grow quite big. He is brown and black in colour with a touch of white on his feet and nose.

Lately, Beaux has been sick. He had a temperature of 41 Celsius. All horses have a normal temperature of 38 degrees Celsius, so he was three degrees too high. Also, he developed diarrhoea, so Dad and I went to town and got him some injections. Thankfully, he got better.

Until I am bigger I'm not allowed alone in the paddock with Beaux because I could get kicked. We don't brush Beaux every day because we don't need to. He loves to eat and I have lots of fun riding him.

Did you know that horses can sleep standing up. Horses have the largest eyes of any known land animal. They are herbivores. Their hooves are made of keratin with a patch of skin called a frog on the inside of the leg is a thing called a chestnut.

And while we're at it, I'll tell you some Clydesdale facts. Believe it or not, they come from a place called Clydesdale. They were used in war, hauled beer, wine and logs. They have feathers on their feet. One called Toby is winning shows. His full name is Riverview Captain Tobias and he is Willy's son. Toby is Beaux' half brother.

I have loved horses since I have been able to understand the word horse.

Dinosaurs

The reason I love Dinosaurs is because they are so big! Take Brontosaurus, for example, they were 82 feet long! Also, if you want to know more, Brontosaurus is no longer called Brontosaurus, it is now called Apatosaurus because the person who found it called it Apatosaurus. He found another one, and he called that one Brontosaurus. Then he discoved that they were the same animal! So palaeontologists called it Apatosaurus again.

Fat Cat Rolled Out Flat on the Mat...

Our Cat, Holly, is fat as Garfield. She has the same colouring as Nermal though.
She is gray and white with a orange nose and green eyes. She's hot because she's in front of the fire all the time and her teeth and claws are see through! She is 13 years old and she purrs a lot. She is very cuddly and funny because she stretches out a lot and looks like a beached whale! She is very cute and I love her.
THATS ALL FOLKS

Dad's star

When we were up in Waihi, Nana Boyd
taught me how to do cross stitch and I
started making a star for Dad.
It is red with a golden, shiny center.
I finished it at home and I made it into a
badge and Dad has attached it to his cap.

The little voice......

“Oh no!” someone shouted.

“What happened?” asked Lukas.

A little voice said, “I fell down the chimney.”

“Who fell down the chimney?” asked Lukas as he walked towards the fire.

“Look down here,” cried the little voice.

Lukas bent down to get a closer look.

“No!  Look over here!  Are you having a boys look?” shouted the little voice.

“No!” exclaimed Lukas.

Lukas bent down to get a better look.

“I can’t see anything,” said Lukas
.
“Ouch!” yelled Lukas.  The little voice had just bitten his toe.

“Are you talking to yourself?” asked Mum, from the kitchen.

The Dog

My dog is the colour of a prairie dog and my
Dad calls him “Mister Brown”. His nickname
is Star because of the star on his neck and
tail. His real name is Duke, but I sometimes
call him Puke.

If you tell him to “Ready! Set! Go!” he goes
crazy!!!

Oops, gotta go, see you next time!!!

How to discombobulate people

To be discombobulated you first have to be
confused, and to be confused you first have to be
discombobulated.
Confused? Good, now, let's
begin......

First, let's start with being confused.
As you may have noticed, being confused is the
same as being discombobulated.
To confuse someone, you have to act confusing.
For example, you are walking down the road ,
not very confusing is it?
Well, change that, you are walking down the
road singing “Here comes the Sun”,as it's
raining.
Why would you do that, I wonder?!
To confuse someone,that's why!

Now, let's talk about being discombobulated.
To discombobulate someone, you have to act
discombobulating.

For example, you are in the garden.
Not very discombobulating, is it?
Well, change that, you are in the garden and you
do a somersault, land on your hoe, the hoe hits
you in the head and you get up and start
gardening again.
Why on earth would you do that?!
To discombobulate someone, that's why!
That's all for today.

Join us next time for how to discombobulate
yourself.

Until then, happy discombobulating!

What today is like v3!!!

Today, (Monday) is like the other, other day
(Friday) so if the other, other day was like
today then seeing the other, other day was
sunny then today must be sunny too.
The sky is blue.
And the reason I said that is because the
sky is blue and if the sky is blue then the
sky must be blue because it's blue.
If it was red, I would call it red because it
was red, but seeing it's blue I call it blue.
Sky blue, to be exact but let's get onto
another conversation, this is too confusing
for me!
Actually, this isn't legally a conversation
seeing you aren't saying anything!
This is a bit confusing, isn't it?
Let's Just Stop!
Join us next time for noodley nonsense.
See you next time!

What today is like v2.

Today is like yesterday except different.
Yesterday was like the other day and if
yesterday was like the other day, then
today is much different and if yesterday
was rainy, then today ( being different)
must be sunny.
Today is sunny today because today is
yesterday's tomorrow and todays are
usually different than tomorrows, in
anyhow.
That's what today is like.
Join us tomorrow to see what today is like.
See you then!

What today is like!

Today,(unlike yesterday),the rain is falling in a mist.
The wind has settled down today.
Yesterday, it was blowing like a jet engine!!
Yesterday, it was raining heavily.
Oops, the sun just came out!
I wonder how long that will last!?!

That's the weather conditions for yesterday and today.
I wonder what tomorrow will bring!?
Whatever it brings it might be like today, because today was like yesterday and if the pattern continues...tomorrow might be like today.

If you know what I mean!

What trees do!

Trees produce oxygen. We (humans), breath in Oxygen and breath out Carbon Dioxide.

Trees, on the other hand, do the opposite. They breath in Carbon Dioxide and breath out Oxygen.

If we DIDN' T have trees and plants, we wouldn't have any air. We'd breath it all up!

Also, trees are good fun to climb!

The fire

Today, we lit the fire for the first time this year. The reason is because it's very, very, very cold!

This morning, I went outside to put the cover on my horse with Dad and when I came back inside, my hands were colder than the tap-water! So that's why we lit the fire.

My old boots!

My old boots are covered in paint with wriggly, black laces threaded though the holes. They are made of leather and have very rotten soles, unkempt. Standing up straight with it`s partner. Steel toe caps with not a lot of grip. Very worn branding letters, almost worn away. The rubber on the soles are worn away and they smell like old leather. That is what my old boots are like.

My dog is a Twerp!

I think my dog is a twerp and here is why.Whenever you sit down he is there between your legs right away. He has been known to carry sticks two inches thick and two meters long and walk through gates with them!
Also, he licks sheep! What kind of dog would do that? A queer dog, that's what! And that's why I think my dog is a Twerp.
